About AAF Tools.

The studio behind AAF Bridge and AAF Everything

AAF Tools is an independent software development project founded by Jerome Gerdie. It builds two focused desktop tools that move timelines between the applications of audio and video post-production — AAF Bridge (AAF / XML ⇄ Ableton Live) and AAF Everything (AAF ⇄ Premiere XML ⇄ FCPXML). Both convert entirely on your computer, and support is answered by the person who wrote the code.

Why these tools exist

In post-production, timelines constantly move between applications — from the picture edit to the mix, from one editor to another, from a DAW back to the cut. The interchange formats that carry them (AAF, Premiere XML, FCPXML / FCPXMLD) each hold a different subset of a session — and where a format falls short, the usual answer has been rebuilding by hand.

Both tools exist for that gap, built around one rule: convert what the format can actually carry, and say clearly what it can’t — in the app before you convert, and in a plain-text report afterwards.

How the tools are tested

Every release runs a round-trip suite that converts real timelines through every supported format and compares each edit. Beyond the suite, we open the files the converters write in the target applications ourselves — Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Nuendo, DaVinci Resolve, Media Composer.

How we work

No accounts, no uploads, no subscriptions. The applications do all their work locally — your audio and timelines never leave your computer (the privacy policy is short for exactly that reason). Support e-mail is answered by the developer, and bug reports directly shape updates.
